Treo Nua (Portlaoise Resource Centre) is a shared services community facility. The anchor tenants will be key to the direct delivery of a wide range of services through the building. In addition, it is a core function of Treo Nua Ltd. to attract in other agencies such as SOLAS, Laois Partnership and the VEC to utilise the training, meeting and community facilities in the building to deliver services. Various community groups including Laois Community Forum, Knockmay Women’s Group (FRC), Foroige (FRC) and Parent & Toddler group (FRC) use the facility on a regular basis. The large community room is utilised on Saturday mornings and Sundays for various local groups including sports, drama and dance groups, building activity outside core hours.
The following outlines in detail how each element of the resource centre will be utilised to provide services:
The Resource Centre opens from 9am to 6pm but due to demand,these hours are extended almost daily in order to provide a fully accessible centre during the evenings and at weekends. The staff at the reception area will meet and greet centre users, ensure visitors sign in and out, take room bookings, operate the phone system, monitor the security systems and deal with queries and enquiries.
Family Resource Centre (FRC)
The FRC provide a range of community and family supports and services, for all individuals, adults, children and families to support them in managing the challenges of daily life both big and small. Please visit the Portlaoise FRC website at www.portlaoisefrc.ie
HSE Primary Care Facility
The HSE provide a range of community support services from the premises, including Public Health Nursing, support for parents, various therapy services, dressing clinics and other services to meet the needs of the local community.
